AVS International Symposium 2026 in Pittsburgh, PA

The AVS International Symposium and Exhibition returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh for its 72nd edition, running November 8–13, 2026. It is the flagship annual gathering of the American Vacuum Society and the reference meeting for atomic-scale processing, characterization, measurement and simulation of materials, surfaces, interfaces and devices. The technical program spans divisions and focus topics such as 2D materials, advanced surface engineering, biomaterial interfaces, electronic materials and photonics, magnetic interfaces and nanostructures, plasma science, spectroscopic ellipsometry, surface science, thin films and vacuum technology. Focus topics add actinides and rare earths, advanced packaging, EUV lithography, AI/ML autonomous experimentation, fusion energy materials, quantum science and the future of temperature sensing. Alongside the talks, an extensive exhibition brings together more than 200 companies showing equipment, tools, materials, chemicals, services and emerging technologies to the research and manufacturing communities. The week also includes a career center and job fair, a 5K run, tutorials, short courses, plenary lectures and dedicated student and undergraduate poster sessions. Mark Losego (Georgia Tech) chairs the 2026 program, with Angélique Raley (Tokyo Electron America) as vice chair.
