The Festival du Chant de Marin returns to Paimpol on 6–8 August 2027 for its biennial celebration of sea shanties and maritime music. Over three days, the Breton harbour becomes an open-air stage, hosting shanty choirs, concerts and a programme that ranges from Celtic sounds to music from Africa, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. The festival is above all a meeting with maritime heritage: more than 200 traditional boats — schooners, cutters, ketches, bisquines and restored sailing craft — moor in the harbour, forming a floating fleet visitors can admire up close. The 2027 edition offers a musical journey from the Black Sea to the Baltic, extending the travel-inspired thread that runs through the event. Alongside the concerts, the festival sets up a village of exhibitors with Breton crafts and food, prevention and accessibility areas, and a strong eco-friendly commitment: reusable cups, selective sorting and soft transport. Children under 12 get in free and there are discounted regional rail offers, making it an easy family weekend away. Staying in Paimpol or in nearby towns such as Plouha, Guingamp or Saint-Brieuc lets you combine the festival with exploring the Côtes-d'Armor coast. Hotel demand spikes around those dates, so early booking is strongly advised.
