The Fête du Vin Bourru is Nuits-Saint-Georges' annual celebration of the first wine of the vintage, the still-fermenting grape juice known as vin bourru. For two days the town's Halles become the Grand Marché des Terroirs, hosting around thirty exhibitors: winemakers from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Chablis, Champagne and Frontignan alongside liqueurs, eaux-de-vie and rums. The highlight is the live pressing, where visitors watch the freshly squeezed juice run and taste it next to the vin bourru drawn straight from the barrel, using a commemorative glass bought at the entrance for €5. Under the 150 m² chapiteau gourmand on the Parvis des Halles you can sit down with snails, freshly cut comté, charcuterie, crusty bread and pastries, while on the first floor around fifteen artists exhibit and work live. The event is run by the La Cabotte association with support from the City of Nuits-Saint-Georges and the Conseil Départemental de la Côte-d'Or. Admission is free, and both the Halles and the Salle des Fêtes are reached via Rue Thurot, with easy parking nearby.
