Now in its 70th year, Le Salon de Montrouge remains France's longest-running springboard for emerging artists. Since 1955 the Ville de Montrouge has used this exhibition to hand a first major platform to creators who later became fixtures of the European art scene. The 2027 edition presents 40 artists chosen by an independent curatorial committee, with Andrea Ponsini leading the artistic direction. Painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video and digital work fill the various rooms of Le Beffroi, mixing established media with current hybrid practices. Running for two weeks with free admission, the salon opens daily from noon to 7 pm without interruption. Visitors can see new work in the very moment it leaves the studio, long before it reaches fairs and galleries. Montrouge, on the southern edge of Paris, becomes for those days a meeting point between the general public, collectors, curators and gallerists, in a much more accessible atmosphere than that of the big international fairs.
