SXSW 2027 in Austin: where to stay near the Creative Village

SXSW 2027 returns to Austin from March 15 to 21, bringing together four worlds in a single week: Innovation, Film & TV, Music and Comedy. With the Austin Convention Center undergoing renovation, the festival unfolds as a pop-up Creative Village spread across downtown venues, from ACL Live at The Moody Theater to Brazos Hall, 800 Congress and the Thompson Hotel. Expect more than 850 conference sessions, 375+ film and TV screenings, 600+ mentor and networking events and over 4,000 musicians performing across 300+ showcases. New for 2027: the SXSW Podcast Festival debuts March 17–20 with its own dedicated programming, and the Innovation Conference shifts to a Monday–Friday format that aligns with standard business travel. Keynotes and Featured Sessions across Film and Music will land on Saturday, open to all Innovation badgeholders. Tracks are grouped so that marketers, founders, investors, creators and artists keep crossing paths throughout the week. Badge tiers range from Music ($625) and Film & TV ($850) up to Innovation ($995) and the all-access Platinum ($1,495), which unlocks every conference, festival, clubhouse and party. Music-only wristbands return at $149, and Austin residents with a local zip code unlock a dedicated rate plus locals-only perks including a downtown lounge. The festival has shaped culture since 1987 — from Kendrick Lamar and President Obama to the premiere of Everything Everywhere All At Once — and 2027 leans into human creativity as the throughline. With hotels filling fast across downtown Austin, booking near the Creative Village venues is the smartest way to keep the whole week within walking distance.
